Default English, Hardest language?

Since elementary school, all my english teachers have told the kids how english is the hardest language to learn- my opinion - thats a bunch of bull doo. Im korean, and no i dont own at pvp, im only rank 5 and no i dont play 24/7 more like 1 hour at most per week. Back in korea when i was 9, i thought korean was hard to learn and im KOREAN! After i moved to america, i learned english within 2 years. I had straight As in english(yes i know i have alot of grammar mistakes here too but i dont care). What do u guys think?

english is tough because of all the extra crap ingrained in there, but hell.

Korean is kicking me in the ass. it's sad, too, because i'm re-learning my native language.

Asian languages are much more difficult to learn than english, in my opinion. English would seem the simplest of what I've seen.

English is easy. Not much you can do wrong, anyway. I believe Russian is supposed to be very hard to do without grammar mistakes.

Asian languages are not as complicated as you might think. The grammar much more simple than the Western languages - you don't have to conjugate verbs or mess with different pronouns or tenses. It's easy to figure out the basic way to say most things. The only hurdle might be the pronunciation which becomes second nature with practice.

You'll have to memorize tons of characters in order to read, say, Chinese but it's not impossible. I think it's much tougher for a Chinese person to speak English properly.

in my opinion, though, Korean is easiest for anyone who's learned a Romantic language. there's a set alphabet with definite pronunciations, and after you memorize how the characters work with each other it's just down to memorizing vocabulary.

:P sometimes i wish i stayed FOB....

I honestly think that English is the most complicated language. Just the grammatical rules are enough to kill you. There are also more words in the English language than any other language. Plus the puncuation. I know that in Spanish, there are commas, periods, exclamation points, and question marks. That's it. And in Hindi, there are only periods, exclamation points, and question marks. Not so sure about Chinese, but there's my schpeel.

Arabic is very easy to learn if you put the time into it. I already know how to ask the basics, like where's the toilet and such, with less then an hour of study. Now, learning to WRITE in arabic..different story.

Based on experience, Asian languages are conversationally easy to learn. If you want to delve into the writing and characters and semantics of the alphabet however, its up there. English I would say is quite easy due to its mass appeal in media, books, internet, etc. Quite a few people only know English because they see it so often.

I actually found the two to be the same.

Lived in Japan for 9 years.
Two years of Japanese...
Two years of Spanish...

I found both of them easy
Easier than my English class

English is the hardest language that I know, all the "sh's""ch's""ph's" (and many others) are too wierd/difficult to understand/follow.
Serbo-croatian (serbian+croatian=serb-croatian) is the easiest language, what you hear is what you write and visa-versa. And in between fall all the other languages in the world....

The word "all" sounds like "ol", why not just spell "ol"? (English)
The word "svi" (all) sounds like "svi" and we spell it "svi" (serbian/ croatian/ serbo-croation/ bosnian [almost all slavik lang.'s])

Depends if you concider only speaking or writing/reading as well.
In my opinion english is easier than french, german or italian... They sound easy at the first place but there are so many rules and grammar they actually become quite hard at the end.
Chinese is fun to speak but still difficult sometimes because of the tones (4 in mandarin and 9 in cantonese). One word that may sound the same has actually different meaning when you change your tone. Like the word "foo" can mean "tiger" with a tone and "husband" with another tone... The hard part is you can't read the way you speak. Like "juk sam" (putting on clothes in cantonese) is read "chun yi" from the written form.
It's true the grammar is simple but there's plenty of other tricks like quantifiers. The word "a" in english has several translations in cantonese as it changes along with the things it quantifies "yat ga tse" (one car "ga" is quantifiers) and "yat zek kai" (one chicken "zek" is quantifier)... And it all changes depending on size, shape etc... of things you're talkin about...
And a chinese guy needs to know around 3000 basic characters to be able to read the newspaper properly against 26 letters in english alphabet
